Form Four students at St. Joseph Nguludi Catholic Secondary School have been encouraged to dream big, remain focused, and embrace integrity as they prepare for their final examinations and future careers.
Speaking as Guest of Honour during the school's farewell function for the candidates, Dean of the Faculty of Education at the Catholic University of Malawi, Alipo Kaphwiyo, challenged the students to adopt what she described as the DREAM formula for success.
Kaphwiyo explained that DREAM stands for Desire Success, Reject Failure, Expect Challenges, Ask for God's Help, and Make It Happen, saying these principles can help young people overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
“Success begins with a desire to achieve. You must reject failure, expect challenges, seek God's guidance, and take deliberate steps to make your dreams a reality,” she said.
Using the biblical story of Joseph as an example, Kaphwiyo urged the students to remain focused on their ambitions and avoid distractions that could jeopardize their future.
“As you leave this place, remember that you have a future to build. There will be many temptations and distractions along the way, but the choices you make today will determine your tomorrow,” she said.
She further emphasized the importance of perseverance, resilience, and faith, noting that hard work and determination are critical to achieving success. Kaphwiyo also encouraged the candidates to uphold integrity during their examinations and throughout their lives.
Headmaster of St. Joseph Nguludi Catholic Secondary School, Patrick Kaliati, praised Kaphwiyo for delivering an inspiring message that addressed the realities and challenges facing young people today.
He urged the students to remain committed to their studies as they prepare for the Malawi School Certificate of Education (M.S.C.E.) examinations scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
The farewell function also featured the recognition of outstanding students who excelled in academics, leadership, sports, and other social activities.
St. Joseph Nguludi Catholic Secondary School is one of the Catholic-owned secondary schools under the Archdiocese of Blantyre.
